Spring Show Recap and Walk-Up Winner!

Hey everybody, check out our pretty little PODCAST! (Our intro still notes the show as being monthly, though we are quarterly now. Someday soon we’ll fix that!) In the meantime, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your company at Here, Chicago’s Spring Show last Sunday. The stories were lush, the food was luscious, and the crowd was lovely. Your Audience Favorite Walk-Up Teller was Rick Bolnick, with a reflective tale about playing an important part in someone ELSE’S important story, and then hearing about it years later. So good!

Click the Play button at the top of the article to listen to the stories assembled by the sound wizard Matt Fleming, and enjoy the beautiful photo doc work of Arielle Farinas below. You can find her on Facebook at @ArielleFarinas, and @ariellephotography on Insta, and on her website at ariellefarinas.com. She is magic.

So good. Thank you to all of our storytellers for taking the stage with courage and humor and grace. Amber Linde, Hector Avitia, Rahmaan Statik, Elizabeth Cambridge, Catherine Napper, Kiki Ringenberg, Rick Belnick, Arielle Farinas, Jerad Kluting, and Bhairavi Shera shined bright. (Unfortunately, some of our walk-up tellers went pretty far over the 5-minute time limit, and so we couldn’t include them in the podcast. We’re sorry! Perhaps a reminder for all of us to be mindful of stage time.) Huge thanks to Geneva Manley for co-hosting with the most style and ease! Big thanks to our volunteers, who make the show happen: KG Price, Andi Nelson, Joan Pearl, and Matt Fleming are the heroes. Tremendous thanks also to those who brought abundant and detectible dishes for our potluck. Thank you for feeding each other so well. We are full and grateful, and look forward to seeing you again in the summer time. <3
