Featured Tellers, Main Show, Stories

October 6th Show

We have a special show in store for you on October 6th. We cull features from lots of different backgrounds, but on occasion– due to scheduling and other cosmic factors– themes emerge along the lines of occupation.

This month your featured tellers hail from different places, but they also ALL tell stories by passion or profession. Your audience favorite last month, Erin Diamond is an emerging storyteller in Chicago. Bobby Biedrzycki is the Director of Programming at Chicago’s longest running story show, 2nd Story, Carly Oishi produces Solo in the 2nd City, David Boyle is the Artistic Director of Chicago Solo Theater, and Melissa Duprey has her own acclaimed solo show, running at the Greenhouse Theater. Soooo it looks like y’all are in for some serious story-tainment on October 6th.

Please do note that we are at Theater Wit once more in October before returning home to Stage 773. Wit is right next door to 773, so, same parking and travel situation.  But you must purchase tickets online HERE for shows at Wit.  They have a different ticketing system, and the slightly smaller venue sells out.  So please purchase ahead of time.

Without further ado, we give you some sparkly people…

melissa dMelissa DuPrey, member of Teatro Luna (“TL”), is a Chicago native with roots in Humboldt Park. After earning her degrees from the University of Houston, she returned to Chicago to join TL’s touring ensemble where she performed in Crossed (Rita), PUTAS! (Daniela), Not Your Generic Latina (multiple roles), and Generation Sex(self). Her one-woman show, SEXomedy, was developed during TL’s series of One Night Stands that showcases women of color in the arts. It is now Chicago Reader Recommended and part of MPAACT’s series of Extended Solo Jams. Ms. DuPrey has also performed comedy in various venues throughout Chicago, and is very proud to have her start with Mikey O Productions. As a musician and active member of her community, she is dedicated to the preservation of Puerto Rican culture by way of the folkloric music, Bomba y Plena. She is blessed to have the continuous support of her family and friends, and hopes to continue creating and producing projects that fuse elements of theatrical story-telling with stand-up comedy. erin-diamondErin grew up in Arlington Heights, IL in a legendary neighborhood that is filled with stories.  She is a theater school drop out and devoted Third Eye Blind fan!  Erin was a camp counselor for nine summers, took care of an elderly couple while she was in college, and worked as an advocate for children with developmental disabilities.  However, it was the past few years she spent working with adults with severe mental illness on Chicago’s northside that made the most impact on her.  Recently, she made the difficult decision to leave that job in order to have more time and energy to devote to writing and storytelling.  It has been the best summer since she got her braces off!

We can’t wait to be with you.  :)
