Copy of abraham-8901Abraham Mellish has seen a lot in his 22 years. After surviving the atrocities of two civil wars in his home of Monrovia, Liberia, he arrived in America still recovering both mentally and physically. Several years later he has channeled that pain into beautiful music that has garnered him attention everywhere he plays. Influenced by Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Lucky Dube, and Fela Kuti, Abraham developed his own sound, combining western folk, funk, and blues with an African pulse. He was recently the featured musician Live in the Lounge at the Chicago House of Blues. His goal is to promote self-realization through music. www.monroviaboy.com

Kevin D'Ambrosio headshot 2013Kevin D’Ambrosio grew up on the northshore of Massachusetts. He found some gray in his beard today, so you could say he’s been in Chicago for a while. One might say that he sort of grew up here too, though. At the turn of century he studied at iO Chicago and Annoyance Theater. Then he found a home at Piven Theatre where he helped to create a theatre games class for adults with developmental disabilities.  A few years ago, Kevin left teaching and launched himself back into performing in theatre, voiceovers, indie films, and as a storyteller. He is quite humbled to have been chosen as the Audience Favorite Walk-Up Teller at Here, Chicago in August 2014. On the other side of his life Kevin works in construction management. Unfortunately, he is unable to help you construct a building, but he can point you in the right direction. Also, he’s writing a sketch show with some friends, just to be funny. Kevin performs regularly at Second City’s Sunday Morning Stories.

dmDeanna Moffitt joins Janna Sobel as guest co-host for Sept. 7th’s show. Deanna has performed with all the major improv theaters in town. She, along with her partner Rance Rizzutto, created and performs Silent Treatment, a completely silent improvised show set to a soundtrack of music curated on the spot. Her voice can be heard on the WBEZ produced story podcast Pleasure Town as the recurring character Ma Barker. She teaches storytelling at The Second City Training Center and recently launched her own company Luminant Leadership to help those in the business world find their stories to connect, motivate and inspire those around them.
.
Deanna has been a bright light and a strong heart in both the storytelling/live-lit and improv communities in Chicago over the past decade. Her talent is matched only by her kindness and integrity. She will be missed by many in Chicago, and we are honored to have her with us before she moves out west!
